KARACHI: Top police officials on Thursday suspended two officers after a citizen complained they had threatened him with death by the so-called 'fake encounter', sources informed.

A resident of Karachi's Saadi Town had complained that the station house officer (SHO) for Soldier Bazaar, Javed Sikander, and an in-charge for the anti-crime cell of District East, Imran Gujjar, looted him and threatened to kill him in a 'fake encounter'. The citizen had also alleged that the two police officers looted more than Rs50,000 from him and a friend.

The sources added both the now-suspended police officers were involved in nabbing Muhammad Yousuf, popularly known as Yousuf Thelaywala, yesterday and that they were suspended after the arrestee's controversial video statement.

Top police officials were, according to sources, also mulling suspending the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for District East, Ghulam Azfar Mahaesar.
