SARGOGHA: A 'spurned' man, who killed a young woman one day before her marriage over her parents' refusal to let him marry her, was arrested on Sunday here in the city, police confirmed.

The man — identified as Sher Muhammad — was arrested alongside two of his accomplices, both friends, police said, adding that they have registered a first information report (FIR) over the murder on behalf of the deceased's father.

According to the regional police officer (RPO) for Sargodha, Afzal Ahmad Kausar, three accused were arrested over the 18-year-old woman's killing and the murder weapon, a pistol, recovered.

RPO Kausar added that the primary suspect, Muhammad, wished to marry the woman but shot her dead one day before she was to be married after her parents rejected his proposition. They killed her at night when she was en route to a beauty salon with her parents.
