Pakistani authorities last month prevented an India girl of the Sikh faith from entering the premises of the country illegally. The girl was in Pakistan for pilgrimage to the Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Kartarpur.

According to reports. the security around the Sikh holy site was tightened following the incident, and visitors to the site will now be asked for bio-metric verification on exiting the holy place as well.

A report published in Urdu daily Jang claims that on November 23, a Sikh girl from the Indian state of Haryana entered Pakistan as a Sikh pilgrim in order to meet her Pakistani boyfriend at the Darbar Sahib Gurdwara.

The girl, identified as Manjeet Kaur, met her boyfriend on the first floor of the holy site. The Pakistani boy, hailing from the city of Faisalabad, had come to the gurdwara along with a couple of friends, including a woman.

Kaur decided to stay in Pakistan following the conversation with her boyfriend. In this regard, the woman who had accompanied the Faisalabad man gave the girl her visitor card.

Kaur then proceeded to discard her pilgrim card in a dustbin in order to avoid any mishap. However, Pakistani authorities foiled the plan and confronted the couple before the girl could escape into the country.
