Lahore man throws toddler off roof after 'fight with wife'

LAHORE: A man allegedly threw his toddler off the roof of his house in Walton Road with the help of his brother-in-law after a 'fight with wife', police said on Wednesday, citing the first information report (FIR).

According to Lahore police, both suspects — father, Naveed, and his brother-in-law, Sunny Patras — were arrested after the FIR was filed on behalf of the nine-month-old's mother.

The mother claimed that when Patras asked why her daughter was crying during a visit to the house, she jokingly responded it was because of his presence. At this, her husband, Naveed, and Patras became angry and started fighting with her.

As the two men's spat with her escalated, they took the nine-month-old to the roof of their house and threw her down from there. Although the toddler initially sustained critical injuries and was shifted to the hospital, she succumbed to her wounds.

The toddler's body was subsequently moved to the morgue.
