Peshawar man sent on 14-day judicial remand over forced 'nikkah' to minor

PESHAWAR: A local court on Friday sent a man, accused of forced nikkah to a minor girl, to the Cetral Jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
The accused, a resident of the provincial capital's Shah Alam neighbourhood, was presented in the court of a Peshawar judicial magistrate.
Police had registered a first information report (FIR) against the man, witnesses, and the marriage officiator (nikkah khuwan). They had also arrested the man accused of forced marriage.
A search for the witnesses and marriage officiator is still underway, police said.
