ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Karachi for a one-day visit on Monday during which he would meet businessmen and attend a Kamyab Jawan Programme cheque distribution ceremony.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and CM Murad Ali Shah received the premier at Karachi airport.

The Prime Minister's Office had earlier tweeted that PM Imran will visit the metropolis for a day to meet a delegation comprising businessmen.

The prime minister is also scheduled to attend a fundraising event for the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. PM Imran will be the chief guest at a cheque distribution ceremony for the Kamiyab Jawan Programme beneficiaries in the city.

The premier will also be briefed about the ongoing development projects in the metropolis.

The visit to Karachi comes amid reports that relations between the premier and the Sindh government have been improving. Quoting unnamed sources at the CM House, The News reported on Monday that the PM’s behaviour has been very cordial with the Sindh CM lately.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah is a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, the ruling party in Sindh. The premier's disgruntled ally in Sindh, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan, has not been invited to meet the prime minister during his visit to the city, sources say.
