Australian umpire Simon Taufel returns to Pakistan with mixed emotions

Former Australian umpire Simon Taufel has said that he has returned to Pakistan with mixed emotions, as he was part of the convoy that was attacked in Lahore in 2009.

“I come back to Pakistan with mixed emotions and feelings I’m very pleased to be back here in a safe environment and one that requires constant vigilance,” said the Australian in a conversation with Geo Pakistan.

He noted that cricket has the ability to do ‘amazing things’ as it brings people together and that needs to be celebrated emphasised the Australian who is considered as one of the greatest umpires.

Meanwhile, West Indian legend Sir Curtly Ambrose shared that he was happy to know that cricket has returned to the country.

The former pacer, who was a nightmare for batsmen, shared that he was in Pakistan so that people can get to know that Pakistan is “safe” for cricket.

“It has changed quite a bit but it has improved quite a lot,” noted Ambrose when asked about how he felt after coming back to Pakistan after such a long hiatus.
