FC gets police powers; notification issued

KARACHI: After the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), the Frontier Constabulary (FC) would enjoy police powers in order to control targeted killings, arson and violence in Karachi, notification issued here on Tuesday.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at the Chief Minister House, jointly presided over by CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Interior Minister Abdul Rehman Malik.

According to the notification issued by Home department, FC has been deployed in the metropolis to control law and order situation and they would use police powers.

It is pertinent to mention here that Rehman Malik said that 1000 FC personnel are present in Karachi and they would implement directions given to them by provincial government.
