HYDERABAD: The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmad Bux Narejo has expressed his dissatisfaction on the mode of distribution of subsidized flour and warned the management of flour mills to distribute the flour in the bags carrying the printed message of Sindh government about subsidy.
He also warned the officers of Food Department to ensure that not a single bag of subsidized flour could go to undeserving people.
The Commissioner issued such warnings while paying surprised visit of to flour mills and subsidized Atta sale points here in different parts of Hyderabad city on Tuesday.
The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Asif Memon, District Food Controller (DFC) Hyderabad Sallahuddin and other officers of lined department accompanied the Commissioner during his visit.
While detecting no representative from Food Department and Revenue Department at the sale point of subsidize dAtta, theCommissioner expressed his apprehensions and said that this loophole may enable the profiteers, hoarders to grab available stock.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad to review the SOP for transparent distribution of subsidized Atta at rest of Rs. 210/- per 10 Kg bag in such a way so that not a single bag go to the undeserving.
He warned that in case of negligence the action would be taken against relevant officers and flour mills management.
He said that provincial government provided subsidy of morethan Rs. two billion on flour just for the benefit to the poor people and such benefit must be trickled down to the deserving people.
During the visit, the District Food Controller Hyderabad Salahuddin informed the Commissioner that as many as 119 stalls have been setup for distribution of subsidized flour to poor people
He said out of 119 stall, 70 have been established in urban parts of Hyderabad District.
Later, the Commissioner held meeting with SindhMinister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgri to devise the strategy for efficient supply of subsidized flour to poor people.
The Commissioner urged the PPP leaders to help administration in identification of poor localities and monitoring for judicious distribution of subsidized flour to poor people.
The PPP leader Fayyaz Shah who also present in the meeting, pointed out the difficulties in supply of flour to poor people and submitted the list of localities for setting up stalls subsidizedof flour.
The Commissioner also took round of Taluka Hyderabad City, Qasimabad and Latifabad to inspect cleanliness in the areas.
Expressing his apprehensions over the heaps of garbage and filthy condition on the roads directed the concerned officers to prepare long term and short term plans to keep Hyderabad as clean.
He said that such scheme must be implemented with the participation of local people.
The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Asif Memon, Director General Hyderabad Development Authority Ghulam Muhammad, Municipal Commissioner HMC and Assistant Commissioners of the concerned taluka were accompanied the Commissioner. The Commissioner said that no development scheme could be made successful without cooperation or participation of community concerned.
Talking with the people during visit, he said that government would provide funds and infrastructure with running condition but people of area must own that facilities and monitor the same regularly.
The Commissioner agreed with view of shopkeepers at Qadam Gah Moula Ali and directed the management of WASA to replace old and out of order sewerage pumping machine within a week time and ensured that there should be no over flow in sewerage lines.
While talking to the residents at H.D.A Park Qasimabad Phase-I, the Commissioner said that district administration wanted to rehabilitate and renovate H.D.A Park Qasimabad on permanent basis forwhich community organization of the area must participate.
He directed the Director General H.D.A to prepare a strategy to bring the sub surface water table at down level to protect the public and private properties.
He also directed the Municipal Commissioner Hyderabad to devise a strategy for disposal of heaps of garbage, building material, Hospital waste and house hold waste in efficient manner.
