Cameron for long term commitment to the development in Balochistan

QUETTA: The US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter has called for the long term commitment of the United States for development in Balochistan.

Talking to the Speaker Balochistan Assembly Mohammad Aslam Bhootani here at his chamber on Thursday, he said the United States is delighted to be the friend of Pakistan, the US is delighted to be a friend of Pakistan.

He said that the US was always happy to assist the provincial government for completion of development projects launched in various sectors.

While lauding the hospitality of the people of Balochistan, he said that he had been accorded warm welcome by the masses of Balochistan whenever he visited the province.

Speaker Balochistan Assembly Mohammad Aslam Bhootani on the occasion said that the US Ambassador's visit to the provincial assembly demonstrates America's support for the democratic institutions in Pakistan.

He told Cameron that Gawadar port has a potential but due to the lack of basic infrastructure and road network the trade activities do not get boost in Balochistan.

Development projects being run with the US funding were also discussed during the meeting.
