Meeting at CM house discusses LG System 2001
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said on Tuesday that the province of Sindh has reverted to old Local Government System-2001 and the same is to be fully followed strictly.

The Chief Minister Sindh said this while chairing a high level meeting regarding resolving issues of Local Government System 2001 at CM House, said a statement issued here.

He said that there should be no delay in implementation of programme of the province particularly the development works owing to this change.

The meeting discussed various issues pertaining to follow up, implementation and pursuance of matters with regard to Local Government System 2001.

It decided that the Administrator Karachi will be posted while, the DCOs of all remaining districts of province will be given additional charge of Administrators.

The meeting also decided that Taluka Municipal Administrations are being revived and TMOs are being posted for those Talukas.

It agreed that the funds will be released on priority for development schemes throughout the province, so as to complete the on- going schemes within stipulated time.

The Sindh Chief Secretary said that the posts of Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been abolished following revival of Local Government System 2001, and notification to this effect is being issued today.

With regard to magisterial powers to curb the menace of hoarding of essential commodities and illegal profiteering, it was informed that the letter has been sent to Federal Government through Law department and necessary amendments in CrPC will be issued accordingly.

The Sindh CM directed concerned departments to follow the instructions of the government in proper manner.

The meeting was attended among others by Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas, provincial secretaries and other officials. (APP)
