HYDERABAD: Heavy rains continued in several areas of Sindh leading to power outages, Geo News reported. The coastal areas of Badin and Thatta received torrential rains resulting in flooding of several villages and fisherman localities. Seven people were injured when the roofs of their homes collapsed due to the rains.
Severe power outages are being experienced throughout the province due to the rains. The Gharo pumping station has been without electricity since 1 AM Thursday and no water has been supplied to Karachi. Six people were injured as a result of overnight rains in Hyderabad, water has accumulated in several areas and residents are frustrated with the power outages.
According to the Met office, Hyderabad city received 74mm while airport and Latifabad received 103.6mm rain.
Rains have also started in Nawabshah, making the weather pleasant. In district Tharparker monsoon rains continued on the second consecutive day. Hundreds of mud houses and huts in Mithi, Islamkot, Deplo, Chachro and Chilhar collapsed due to heavy rains, coupled with strong winds. The whole district has been braving a big electricity crisis for last four days.
