KARACHI: The weather in the city turned pleasant following the monsoon rain, Geo News reported. A light drizzle continued on Thursday and water had started to accumulate in some areas.
The rain which began overnight in the metropolis immediately led to several dozen feeders of the KESC tripping. Residents of the city have been without electricity for several hours.
Areas facing power outages include Al Noor Society, Kharadar, Abul Hassan Isphahani Road, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Federal B Area, Landhi, Korangi, Gulshan e Iqbal, Gulistan- e Jauhar, Sir Syed Town, Malir Cantonment, Gulshan-e Maymar, Askari Phase IV, Naval Colony etc.
According to the KESC spokesperson, different areas of the metropolis were facing feeder-tripping problems following the monsoon rain. The spokesperson added that the KESC teams were working on an emergency basis to control the situation.
The MET office states that Landhi received 22 mm, Nazimabad 8.4 mm, Masroor base 10 mm and PNS Faisal received 9 mm of rain. Meanwhile the city government has claimed that residents will face no problems due to the rain.
