The coronavirus has dented businesses around the world and airlines are no exception. The pandemic has so far claimed more than 26,000 deaths around the world and affected more than half a million people.

The PIA is also feeling the heat from the lack of business these days as international flights have been suspended in the country and citizens quarantine themselves.

In light of the above circumstances, the national flag carrier's CEO announced a 20% cut in his salary. Department chief officers have also slashed their salaries by 20% while managers have decided to cut theirs by 15%.

Deputy managers have decided to slash their salaries by 10% and managers, by 8%. The airline's spokesperson said that the decision taken by the management was aimed at providing some cushion to the airline during the financial crunch it was going through due to the coronavirus outbreak.
