Independence Day celebrated in NWA
PESHAWAR: The 65th Independence Day was celebrated with renewed vigour and enthusiasm in entire North Waziristan Agency by organizing different ceremonies at main towns like Miran Shah, Mir Ali, Razmak, Datta Khel and Gharlami.

The biggest ceremony of the day was held in Miran Shah, the Agency headquarters. The venue was decorated with colorful buntings and national flags. The day began with thanks-giving prayers and Quran khawani at various mosques, followed by a colorful ceremony to celebrate the National Day at Miran Shah Camp Stadium.

General Officer Commanding 7 Div Major General Ghayur Mahmood graced the occasion as chief guest. A large number of school children and local tribal elders gathered to celebrate the occasion.

The ceremony was opened with the recitation of Holy Quran, followed by joint National flag hoisting by Major General Ghayur Mahmood along with Uthmanzai Wazir elder.

The march past by squads of Army and Frontier Corps and national song by children of various schools added traditional color to the occasion.

General Officer Commanding of North Waziristan Agency Major General Ghayur Mahmood gave away the prizes to all participating students.

At the occasion, Uthmanzai elder made a speech and prayed for the development and prosperity of the country, particularly the North Waziristan. The ceremony marked assurances by tribal elders by making all out efforts to establish peace in the Agency. (APP)
