ISLAMABAD: The Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police has busted three gangs involved in car snatching, car lifting, dacoities and recovered seven vehicles, stolen items worth Rs 10 million from their possession, a police spokesman said.
Special teams constituted under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Ch Liaqat Ali have succeeded to arrest 18 persons including two notorious receivers of stolen cars, car thieves and dacoits besides recovering five stolen cars, six mobile phones, six pistols, one kalasnikov and stolen items more than Rs. 10 million from them.
The nabbed persons involved in dacoities have been identified as Aamirson of Muhammad Jehangir resident of Dhok Matkial Rawalpindi, Jameel Naseeb son of Naseeb Ikram resident of sector G-11/1 Islamabad, Ramazanson of Wali Muhammad resident of Jaranwala, Virkam Masih son of Nazeer Masihresident of Gujranwala, Mushtaq Masih son of Amanat Masih resident ofNarowal, Shahid son of Ghulam Rasool resident of ThandlianwalaFaisalabad, Mir Baz son of Abuld Manan resident of Islamabad, Rahim Ullahson of Ameer Aman Khan resident of Faisalabad, Nizam Din son of Behram Khanresident of Abbotabad and two Afghan nationals Syed Kareem son of Muhammad Haneef and Abdul Hadi Khan son of Khan Jan.
The police recovered looted items worth millions of rupees, six mobile phones, 21 pistols, kalasnikovs, two cars, one hand grenade, 200 bottles of wine, eight kilogram hashish, seven kilogram heroin from nabbed persons and they also confessed snatching 16 vehicles at gun point from various areas of twin cities.
The nabbed car receivers have been identified as Razim aliasHaji son of Muhammad Azam resident of Peshawar, Riaz ur Rehman son of Saleemur Rehman resident of Mardan.
Likewise, CIA Police and Anto-Car Lifting Cell have also arrested car thieves identified as Ghulam Kibriya son of Ghulam Mustafa resident of Rawalpindi, Shan Mustafa son of Khaldi Javed resident of Gujranwala, Jameel Ahmed son of Mir Afzal resident of Mansehra, Ayaz Mehmud alias Puppi resident of Dhok Gujran Rawalpindi and Zahid Tanveer son of Muhammad Basheer Ahmed resident of Mansoor Abad Faisalabad.
The cars recovered from these persons bear registration number as follows: Corolla Altas Car (ICT-SY-424), Suzuki vans (LEJ-5048,CJ-9518)), Honda VTI (LRB-7171). An oil tanker (GLT-5875) snatched at gun point from Sihala police area was also recovered from them.
Meanwhile, Tarnol Police also arrested a car thief red handed. IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan have appreciated this performance and further directed to use all available resources to arrest car thieves and other notorious criminals.
