ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court included DG FIA in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) case investigating team working under Additional DG Zafar Qureshi and summoned the team with all the relevant record, Geo News reported.
The court also cancelled the leaves of team investigating the scam.
Qureshi, who was investigating the suo moto case regarding the violation of Public Procurement Rules 2004 in the procurement of losses of billions of rupees to the public exchequer caused by the NICL scam, submitted a copy of his charge-assumption report to the SC registrar yesterday.
He submitted that in compliance with the Supreme Court's July 25, 2001 reserved order announced on August 8, 2011, he assumed charge of the office of Additional DG FIA in addition to the charge of Managing Director, National Police Foundation.
After going through the report, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered to put up the NICL case today and issued notices to the interior secretary, attorney general, DG FIA and Qureshi to pass appropriate orders in connection with developments after Qureshi resumed charge.
During today's hearing Zafar Qureshi, DG FIA, Attorney General and Federal Interior Secretary were present.
Qureshi told court that on August 12 evening Lahore Director informed him about the bomb threat. The court expressed displeasure when DG FIA denied any information regarding the matter.
