ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has invited Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to rejoin the government, Geo News reported. According to a statement issued by the presidential spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, the President extended this invitation to MQM chief Atlaf Hussain during a phone call.
President Zardari said the MQM's return to the government would help solve the security situation in Karachi, and it would send a message that both parties were working together for peace. MQM chief Altaf Hussain said that his party would support all initiatives which would establish peace in Karachi.
Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad is currently in the federal capital and has held meeting with the President and Prime Minister over the MQM's possible return to the government.
According to the sources, the MQM is expected to rejoin the government in the next few days and MQM leaders would resume their ministerial positions.
