PESHAWAR: On the directives of the District Coordination Officer (DCO), Siraj Ahmad Khan, Assistant Coordination Officer (ACO) Zafar Ali Shah arrested 15 butchers for overcharging consumers in violation of the agreement with the administration and sent them to prison for 15 days.
The DCO Peshawar have received a tip that butchers in some bazaars including Hashtnagri, Hospital Road, Kabuli Chowk and Nishterabad in violation of the agreed agreement on the price of mutton are selling on exorbitant prices. The ACO arrested the butchers and sent them to prison for a period of 15 days.
Meanwhile, DCO Siraj Ahmad Khan has said that the office bearers of the butchers associations had signed agreement with them that they will not sell mutton and beef at exorbitant prices. On violation of the agreement, he said crackdown against them would continue.
He said that till the issuance of the new price list the existing price list will remain intact. He said that those violating the agreement and challenging the price list will have to spend their Eidul Fitr in prison.
