Karachi situation affecting medicine supplies

MULTAN: The troubling situation in Karachi isaffecting the supply of medicines and other trade goods to southPunjab, local traders and their representatives said on Saturday.

A senior leader of the city's wholesale medicine market Akhtar Butt said that traders were facing problems in getting medicine supplies from the biggest commercial metropolitan of the country and it has also created shortage of some medicines in south Punjab markets.

He has urged the government to take drastic steps to restore law and order toavoid negative impact on the economy.

Former senior vice president of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khawaja Usman said that traders were facing problems in getting supplies of medicines, stitched clothes, vehicles's pare parts, pesticides, plastic tools and many other products from Karachi due to the law and order situation. It is also affecting business activities in south Punjab.

He demanded that those responsible for shedding blood of innocent people of Karachi should be taken to task.
