PESHAWAR: An elaborate security plan is being finalized by city police for protection of mosques and Eidgahs to thwart terrorism bid during Eid days.Official sources in police department told APP on Sunday that police would remain on high alert and fully prepared positions to avert any untoward incident during days of Eid.
As per key features of security plan, policemen with help of Elite Force would patrol various sensitive localities of KPK capital to property check house burglaries, car-snatchers and other street crimes besides closely watch movement of suspects during Eid holidays.The policemen would also patrol in interior city and SDPOs and SHOs would ensure proper security at Eid congregations in various localities to ward off any terrorism threats and would be responsible for any mishap.
More than 50 policemen would be deployed for security at Mohabat Khan mosque on Eid day while walkthrough gates and scanners would also be installed on Eidgahs and mosques for security of people.
The official said duty rosters are being prepared by in-charges of police stations and policemen would patrol in various sectors during day and night timings to check street crimes and house burglaries and ensure protection to properties during Eid holidays.Special focus is to ensure safety to properties and stop frequent incidents of theft and car lifting during Eid days and police pickets would be erected at all important entry and exit points for checking of vehicles.
The mobile patrols and squads of Elites police would also remain present at prominent points during Eid congregations and Chand Raat. Bomb disposal squad will remain available at short notice and all public places, parks, play grounds will be kept under strict vigilance and security cover. The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Rescue Department and City Fire brigade will also be on standby position. Special check-points would be established at Khyber Agency and Peshawar's entry points to closely check movement of unwanted elements.
Police in plain cloths would also be deployed outside worship and public places for security besides installation of close circuit cameras at sensitive places of the city.
