PESHAWAR: Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bashir Ahmad Bilour inaugurated week-long cleanliness drive in Hayatabad Township by personally brooming a specific area.
According to a handout issued here on Tuesday, Director General Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), Qazi Laiq Ahmad, Director Development PDA, Ikramullah Khan Gandapur and other concerned staff were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour said four teams, working under supervision of trained Sanitary Inspectors, will clean all streets of phase I to IV of Hayatabad Township within a limited four days. In the next stage, he added, phase V and VII will be cleaned in two to three days.
The Senior Minister expressed dissatisfaction over cleanliness condition in phase III of the township and directed the concerned authorities to take appropriate measures in this regard otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
He said the objective of observing cleanliness week is to involve government official and local people in drive for cleaning the environ.
Bilour stressed upon the people to keep their environ clean and not to litter garbage in streets and parks.
He said that he feels proud while taking initiative for cleanliness because it is essential of our religion and our leader, Bacha Khan also used to serve people in maintaining cleanliness.
He apprised the participants that provincial government has signed an agreement with a private firm `Waste Buster' which will clean the city on scientific grounds and install a recycling plant.
The government, he added, has approved purchase of new trackers for cleanliness of the city besides releasing Rs. two million for vehicles' repair.
