Actor, TV writer Athar Shah Khan passes away in Karachi

Renowned actor and television writer Athar Shah Khan has passed in Karachi today. He was 77.

According to the family, Khan had been ill for some time and passed away after suffering from a stroke.

Athar Shah Khan’s legendary role as “Jaidi” in Intizar Farmaiyay on PTV made him a household name in the country.

The late actor moved from Lahore to Karachi in 1957 and had a Master’s degree in Journalism from the Punjab University.

Not only did he pen down dramas, but also directed the movie Aas Pass.

His other popular work includes Hello Hello, Intezar Farmaiay, Lakhon Mein Teen, Ba Adab Ba Mulahiza Hoshiyar, Haye Haidi among others.

In 2001, he was awarded the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan.

He is survived by his wife and four sons.

His funeral prayers will be held in Karachi today at 4pm in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Masjid Aqsa. He will be laid to rest in Sakhi Hassan graveyard.
