RAWALPINDI: As the Eid shopping gained momentum, parking problems have increased manifold. People facing difficulties to park their vehicles during shopping.
City Traffic Police is engaged to lift the vehicles with out any warning and imposing heavy fine to the violators.
The markets including Commercial market, Raja Bazaar, Trunk Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, Bara market, Fowara Chowk, College Road, Sabzi Mandi, Sarafa Bazaar and cantonment shopping malls have no parking space which is creating a lot of problems for the buyers.
A visitor from Raja Bazaar Muhammad Kashif talking to this said that "I am in trouble as there is no place available to park the vehicles saying that it is my first time in the life that I was really distressed and mentally upset who came here for Eid shopping".
Another visitor from Commercial Market Muhammad Atif expressed his views that there is no space to park the vehicle after hectic efforts "I parked my vehicle and buy the shoes for children and ran towards my vehicle in a hurry"
On the other hand, the construction of first-ever and much needed parking plaza at Fawara Chowk here is still a dream as Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has not been able to complete the task despite passage of several years.
Spread over 4.5 canals of land, the parking plaza will have five storey and a basement and will be located in the heart of the city on the crossing of Liaquat and Jinnah roads near Fawara Chowk where currently a van station exists.
The RDA has already released Rs 80million to kick off the first phase of the project having a capacity to accommodate 500 vehicles at a time after its completion. (APP)
