KARACHI: An angry labour union mob jumped to crash and burn Karachi Electric Supply Company’s (KESC) assets after its security guards’ allegedly opened fire at the workers protesting outside company’s head office injuring at least seven, Geo News reported Monday.
According to CBR chairman Akhlaq Ahmed, workers were peacefully protesting outside the head office demanding their four months salaries, when untamed security guards opened indiscriminate fire injuring seven of them. This sparked a mighty wave of agitation, he added.
Angry KESC workers hurled stones at the police deployed to disperse them. They tried to set a police truck and power supply company’s vehicles on fire, as well.
On the other hand KESC spokesman said that labour union attacked the head office and it were actually those who started shooting at the building, not our guards.
