Shakarparian loosing its charm

ISLAMABAD: Shakarparian, a fascinating picnic spot, is gradually loosing its beauty and attraction owing to the negligence of the civic body.

Shakarparian is now giving a pathetic look as if there was no one to take care of it, a visitor complained.

He said that there were many factors leading towards the worsening condition of the spot but above all is the lack of interest by the civic body.

Adnan-ul-Hassan, a visitor with his family said he had been visiting the park, witnessing the fact that there used to be a huge rush which is decreasing with the passage of time.

The food stall owners around the park seemed extremely worried over the situation, as their daily sale has been affected badly, he said.

Another visitor Pervaiz Masood, who came to visit Shakarparian along with family, regretted that the spot had been ignored by the concerned authorities and no steps had been taken for its maintenance.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials said that Shakarparian was still an attractive place of the federal capital, adding that the visitors' attention was diverted towards new places like Rawal Lake View Park and Pakistan Monument but they would be attracted again to Shakarparian with improved steps.
