LAHORE: Dengue virus is still on the rise in Lahore and the number of patients is constantly increasing in the hospitals. 25 patients have lost their lives so far while 5,344 Dengue cases have been confirmed in the city, Geo News reported.
People who get fever are afraid of getting Dengue and are queuing in the hospitals for blood screening. Emergency has been declared in the hospitals but the problem seems uncontrollable by the management due to limited resources.
Special measures have been adopted by the hospitals to provide better facilities to the patients. Dengue patients are claiming that despite confirmation of the disease in the patients they were not being hospitalized.
Several patients have turned to private hospitals where they are being over-charged for treatment.
On the other hands, doctors said on the directives of the government they have adopted extra measures and a large number of dengue patients are being treated in the hospitals.
General public is of view that number of dengue patients is increasing continuously while the measures adopted by the hospitals are inadequate. To control the situation, government has to take more steps, they added.
As the third round of fumigation begins, complaints have been received that teams have not sprayed several areas.
Dengue symptoms include lowered blood platelets accompanied by high fever, body rash and vomiting.
