Rainwater be drained out on war footing: Zardari

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari Thursday directed the DCOs of Thatta and Umerkot to complete the draining out of accumulated rainwater on war-footing basis, Geo News reported.

"The standing water be drained out on war footing to make possible the returning of affected people (to their homes)," the President ordered while presiding over a video conference with the DCOs of districts Thatta and Umerkot held at monitoring cell set up here at Bilawal House.

During the conference, President Zardari apprised himself of the current flood situation in the affected parts of Sindh and the relief and aid activities being carried out in the province.

He ruled out making good the damage done by the rains and floods to the crops and directed to make preparations for the Rabi crop after flushing out the standing water.
