Opp pushes govt to action SC Khi verdict

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar said after the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Karachi violence case there was no reason why action would not be taken against criminals, Geo News reported.

Nisar who was speaking with the media outside the National Assembly said a timeframe on when the verdict would be implemented would be sought from the government on Monday.

Nisar said according to the apex courts verdict the federal and provincial governments were unsuccessful in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities in Karachi. The Supreme Court’s verdict, which was announced on Thursday, said it was the government’s responsibility to protect the fundamental rights of citizens and it had failed to do so in Karachi.
