ISLAMABAD: Two-day "Postmaster General Conference 2011" concluded on Thursday here at Postal Staff College.
Postmasters General of Pakistan Post from all over the country participated in the conference. The aim of the conference was to uplift the quality of Express Post Services and to adopt effective ways and means to promote the business of premier postal services.
All the Postmasters General presented business review and highlighted issues relating to their respective circles.
Federal Minister for Postal Services Alhaj Sardar Muhammad Umar Gorgage addressing the participants stressed upon giving proper attention to money disbursement under Benazir Income Support Programe (BISP). He asked the officers to work hard for providing better services to the people.
The minister said that Pakistan Post was working on introducing technology to modernize its services and added instant domestic money transfer services would also be launched soon to facilitate public.
Secretary Ministry of Postal Services Raja Ikram ul Haq said that keeping pace with the changing communications market, Pakistan Post is emphasizing in the use of new communication and information technologies to move beyond what is traditionally regarded as a its core postal business.
He said that Pakistan Post has a broad and varied role to play beyond provision of communication link for individuals and businesses.
Additional Director General Postal Life Insurance (PLI) gave further details of computerization plan of Pakistan Post.
Fazli Sattar Khan, Additional Director General (Operation) Pakistan Post presented a review of postal business.
He informed the participants that as many as 15,000 entries have been received for National Letter Writing Competition.
Additional Director General (FS) Syed Ghulam Panjtan Rizvi presented review of financial services being provided by Pakistan Post.
Muhammad Jan Khattak, Additional Director General (A and F) presented review of revenue targets for the year 2010-11.
Federal Minister for Postal Services also arranged dinner reception in the honour of participating officials of Pakistan Post. (APP)
