Yasin Anwar appointed new SBP Governor
ISLAMABAD: The government has finally appointed the Acting Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Yasin Anwar, as the Central Bank chief, Geo News reported.

The post had been lying vacant from almost two and half months after the resignation of the Shahid Hafeez Kardar on July 18.

According to earlier reports three names were being considered for the slot of Governor SBP - Acting Governor Yaseen Anwar, Ali Raza and Dr Shamshad Akhtar.

However, Yasin Anwar has been finally appointed as the Chief of the Central Bank.

Anwar Yasin is currently accompanying the finance minister in Washington in World Bank’s annual meeting.

The government was required to appoint the new Governor before October 18 as according to the law, the government should appoint the new Governor within three months from when the post was vacated.
