Police arrest 4 suspects in gold bars robbery of Sarafa Bazaar
RAWALPINDI: Police have arrested four suspected of gold bars robbery after two days search for the suspects.

Addressing a press conference held here in Bunni Police Station, Superintendent Police Rawal Town Malik Matloob said that after robbery incident in which total 2124 grams gold bars worth Rs 9 million were looted by two gunmen who took away gold from a goldsmith in New Sarafa Bazaar in broad daylight on Wednesday (Oct 19).

He said, City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar constituted an investigation team under his supervision which also included Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Waris Khan Circle, SHO Bunni Inspector Abdul Sattar and other police officials.

The team worked day and night to trace the culprits and arrested four accused identified as Javed Akhtar, Muhammad Shamraiz, Muhammad Shabbir and Aamir Mahmood while their two accomplices are still at large.

The SP further said the special investigation team working on scientific lines thoroughly examined all aspects of the case and arrested the culprits who were employees of Simba Gold Jewellery and planned the robbery. After committing the crime, the managed to escape the scene on a motorcycle, he said.

He said that four accused have been arrested while two will also be rounded up very soon adding that Police have recovered gold bars from their possession which were shown to the media.

Chairman Sarafa Bazaar Union Shaheen Atif and President Markazi Sarafa and Jewellers Association Rawalpindi/Islamabad Kh. Sohail Sadiq announced four gold medals for the officers of investigation team.

On this occasion, they presented special shields to SP and DSP and appreciated the efforts of police officers to trace out the criminals particularly in two robbery cases occurred recently.
