HYDERABAD: The business community of Hyderabad, specially those dealing with the fruits and vegetables, have expressed deep concern over a lack of cleanliness of the roads and streets surrounding the city's vegetable market.
At a meeting at Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (HCCI), President Wholesale Fruit Merchant and Commission Agents Association Muhammad Ziauddin complained that the accumulation of garbage and sewage on the roads was a causing various problems to the traders and buyers of the goods.
He held the Town Municipal Administration of Latifabad responsible for the lack of cleanliness.
"Such a condition exposes all to several health hazards while also spoiling the quality of fruits and vegetables available for sale in the market," he observed.
He regretted that despite their repeated complaints the TMA Latifabad had failed to clean the areas and ensure a proper mechanism of collection of garbage and a working drainage system.
"This is also despite the fact that the fruit and vegetable merchants pay taxes for such facilities which they do not actually receive," he added.
Ziauddin and others attending the meeting decided to hold protests against the TMA if their concerns were not addressed. (APP)
