ISLAMABAD: Absence of a full-time principal in the Federal Government College of Commerce H-8/4 since August 4, is badly affecting its administrative affairs as well as study schedule.

It is the only postgraduate college for men in the Federal Capital with 3,500 students studying in morning and evening shifts.

The office of principal became vacant on the retirement of Professor Zafarullah Bhuttar on August 4.

Talking to APP, a lecturer of the college said that students were suffering in the absence of principal as there was no authority to take decisions regarding their study schedule and handle other affairs.

He said that a senior lecturer, Mehboob Alam Shahzad, was handling the college affairs as an acting principal on verbal directives by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) but he had no authority to take any decision.

"The college has no authority to decide about arranging extra classes and changing time after the government's decision of two-day holidays and ultimately the students will be the sufferers as they will not be able to cover the syllabus," he said.

Another lecturer said that absence of any authority in the college had led to delay in periods and mishandling of affairs as no one was there to monitor the performance of teaching and non-teaching staff.

Meanwhile, a senior official of CADD informed APP that the principal would be appointed in the college within two days. (APP)
