CDGK starts Teachers Training Programme
KARACHI: City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has initiated a road safety education programme for teachers to promote road safety measures and compliance of relevant rules among students.

Sattar Javaid, a UK trained road safety expert, has been assigned the responsibility to hold workshops for teachers as master trainers in road safety, said a CDGK press release.

Teachers of primary and secondary level schools located in different towns are attending this training course.

Executive District Officer, Transport and Communication Department, Mohammad Ather, speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the program said, "Our objective is to protect children against accidents and to inculcate in them the road safety sense."

EDO, Traffic and Communication Department said deaths and injuries caused due to road accidents must be treated equivalent to disasters.

The sufferers must be extended same attention as victims of violence and patients exposed to diseases, said Mohammad Ather.

He said the programme has been initiated on the directives of CDGK Administrator, Mohammad Hussain Syed, and DCO Karachi Roshan Ali
Shaikh.

He said that TCD would expedite all required engineering and education activities with regard to the safety of young road users.

Sattar Javaid on the occasion made a detailed presentation and described problems being faced by the children and solutions to these
difficulties.

The trainer advised the teachers to teach children road safety rules according to their age and capability so that they were able to understand the relevant codes and could use the roads safely.

He said there was constant increase in the number of children exposed to road accidents and this demanded immediate intervention through proper education of the victims. (APP)
