Workshop on role of media about natural calamities

HYDERABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) is arranging a workshop titled 'Role of media for dissemination of early warnings on floods & droughts' here on November 3.

The program will be organized in collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP) and Sustainable LandManagement Project (SLMF) at a local Hotel.

The workshop is aimed at developing a network for early dissemination of information and warnings regarding occurrence of natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods, droughts and cyclones to the concerned and vulnerable communities so that their lives and livelihoods could be saved.

Representatives of print and electronic media, officials from District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA),Information Department, Rescue, Civil Defense and other stakeholders will participate in the workshop and share their experiences for improving and strengthening the existing system of dissemination of early warnings to general public about natural calamities.
