FAISALABAD: Anti Terrorism Court No.1 on Thursday convicted an accused involved in throwing acid on a girl in the limits of Jhang City police station.
According to the prosecution, Abdus Sattar along with his accomplice Umar Ali threw acid on Najma Bibi in Chak No.453-GB on July 29, 2011.
Judge ATC Raja Ishtiaq Ahmad awarded 20 years imprisonment to Abdus Sattar. The convict was also directed to pay a fine of Rs 200,000, otherwise, he will have to experience an additional imprisonment of 2 years.
The court also awarded Abdus Sattar to eight years imprisonment under section 336 PPP and directed him to pay half Diyat to the aggrieved lady.
However, the second accused of the case Umar Ali was acquitted by giving him the benefit of the doubt.
