EDO Veterinary suspended after Geo News report

KARACHI: EDO Veterinary Department Karachi, Rashid Jamal has been suspended after Geo News’ programmes Hum Awam and Aj Kamran Khan Kay Sath laid bare massive corruption in the cattle market ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Geo News in its reports brought to light how the complicit government officials and the contractors under the auspices of Karachi veterinary department were pocketing millions of rupees.

The culprits were issuing counterfeit health certificates to the sacrificial animals without even examining them to the peril of consumers' health.

Hitting the nail on the head, Administrator Karachi, Mohammad Hussain Syed suspended EDO Veterinary Rashid Jamal, tasking EDO Revenue Ghanor Leghari with an across-the-board inquiry to be reported in a week.

Administrator Karachi told Geo News that the case would be sent to provincial anti-corruption department if EDO Veterinary were found guilty of graft/misappropriation
