KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan Thursday visited the Central Police Office (CPO) and held detailed meeting with the IGP Sindh Mushtaq Shah about the law and order situation in the province.

Presiding over a meeting at the CPO, he appreciated the efforts of Sindh Police and Karachi Police in particular for their outstanding performance and planning which averted any untoward incident during the Eidul Azha celebrations in collaboration with Pakistan Rangers.

On the occasion, the Home Minister also discussed the security plan for the month Muharramul Harram and expressed his optimism that the Police Department will make appropriate security arrangements to protect the life and property of the people.

"There is immediate need to have consultative sessions by the Police high-ups with the Ulema of all sects to ensure peace and religious harmony during Muharramul Harram," he added.

Wassan said that the SPs, DSPs and SHO were and would remain liable to any criminal activity in their area with severe action against them if they failed to ensure maintenance of peace in their respective areas of operation.

"There is need to make the Police a role model for the public and action should be taken without any discrimination against criminal elements irrespective of their affiliations", he added.

The Home Minister on the recommendation of IGP Sindh Mushtaq Shah gave away appreciation certificates to the police officers and low cadre cops for their bravery and outstanding performance in war against criminal elements.
