Ramadan 2021: Bank timings in Pakistan

  • The SBP says timings would apply on banks, development finance institutions and microfinance banks.
  • The central bank says after Ramadan the banks will automatically revert to pre-Ramadan timings.
  • A day earlier, SBP had announced that it will remain closed for public dealings on the 1st of Ramadan.


KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Tuesday issued the Ramadan timings for banks, development finance institutions and microfinance banks.

According to a SBP statement, from Monday to Thursday the banks will have working hours from 10:00am to 4:00pm. It added that a prayer break will be given from 2:00pm to 2:15pm during this time.

For Fridays, the office hours will be from 10.00am to 1:00pm without break.

For public dealing, the SBP said that banks will operate 10:00am to 1:30pm without break. 

On the other hand, on Fridays banking hours for public dealing will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

"After the holy month of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, the above timings will automatically be reverted to pre Ramadan-ul-Mubarak timings," said the SBP statement.

A day earlier, SBP had announced that it will remain closed for public dealings on the 1st of Ramadan which shall be observed as a “Bank Holiday” for the deduction of Zakat.

"All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on 1st Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1442 AH," a statement from the central bank said.
