DCs asked to ensure start of cane crushing by Nov 28

HYDERABAD: Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo has through his directives asked all Deputy Commissioners of the Division and the Cane Commissioner Hyderabad to forge effective coordination with each others and ensure the start of crushing of sugarcane by November 28, 2011.

In case of failure, an action under provisions of law should be taken against the administration of defaulting sugar mills, he said here on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile in another directive, the Commissioner has asked all Deputy Commissioners and the Director General Agriculture Extension Hyderabad to constitute teams comprising concerned Mukhtiarkars, Station House Officers and representatives of growers associations to check the prices and black-marketing and ensure sale of fertilisers on company rates within three days.

He informed that reports have been received that the growers are purchasing Urea fertiliser and pesticides from black market and on higher rates and Hyderabad City, Latifabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Kotri, Nawabshah, Dadu, Thatta and other towns are the main markets where this illegal practice is going on.

He said that punitive action against the menace should be taken so that the growers/abadgars could take a sigh of relief.
