Low gas pressure continues to hit consumers in twin cities
RAWALPINDI: A very low Sui gas pressure, started on Saturday, continued to hit the domestic consumers and CNG users in different areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday.

With the temperature going down in morning and evening time, people of different areas, especially residents of Sector I-10, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Chuhar Chowk, Meharabad and Muslim Town faced low gas pressure on Saturday and Sunday. They complained that Sui gas pressure suddenly decreases during the early morning and evening.

Long queues were also witnessed outside the CNG stations located in I-10, H-8, G-9 Sectors, Saidpur Road, Muslim Town and other areas where the motorists were unable to get gas for their vehicles owing to low gas pressure.

On Sunday morning, rush was witnessed at "Tandoors" and "Bakeries" in Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony and Dhoke Saydian as there was no gas pressure to cook breakfast.

Ehsanul Haq, a resident of Sector I-10 said the problem of low gas pressure started early in the morning and continued till evening as a result the households faced problems in cooking meal. People are forced to other means of energy to prepare food for themselves and children.

Rahim Khan, a father of three school-going children said that he is worried about the breakfast and lunch of his children whom mid-term examinations are scheduled to start from Monday. Some motorists said that CNG outlets in the area had stopped filling gas owing to low pressure.

People of other areas especially H-8 and Muslim Town also complained unavailability of gas, as the CNG stations were not selling gas because of low gas pressure.

Qamar Zaman, a resident of Muslim Town, said he could not get CNG for his vehicle due long queues at the CNG stations and he has to rely on petrol which is very costly in view of his low income.

A number of people opined if the gas supply situation is worsening with the advent of winter season, then during the peak winter season, what will be done with the consumers.

Last year too, consistent low gas pressures and frequent gas outages had posed serious problems for the people, who were unable to cook and properly heat their homes during cold weather condition.

The citizens have urged the government and the concerned authorities to take immediate steps and find a permanent solution to the problem. (APP)
