Karachi streetlights on solar energy in 5 years
KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has made a five-year plan to convert all streetlights of the city to solar energy, said KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed here on Friday.

Talking to a delegation of Republic of Korea led by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan Choong Joo Choi that called on him, he said converting streetlights on solar energy would not only save cost but also boost environmental standards.

He said the law and order situation in Karachi has improved a lot and more than 1400 trained city wardens of KMC are assisting traffic police. He said the lack of mass transits system in Karachi is main hurdle in effective commuting facilities to Karachiites.

He said the foreign investors should focus on this lucrative field and the government would provide all-out facilities to them.

He said 67-kilomtere Malir Expressway project is ready for work, adding international tenders for this Rs50billion BOT project have already been issued, which would be opened in 60 days.

He said better investment opportunities are there in solid waste disposal sector. He urged the Korean investors to invest in these projects, assuring them all-out assistance on behalf of the government. (PPI)
