Police bust two gangs of dacoits

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police claimed to have busted two
inter-provincial gangs of dacoits and car lifters (Waseem gang and Hafeez gang) and arrested nine criminals while 11 vehicles and three motorcycles have also been recovered.

According to details, on the special directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar a special team headed by Superintendent Police (SP) Potohar Town Athar Ismail with other members including DSP cantt Sardar Shahbaz Hussain, SHO Wastrage Police Station Inspector Muhammad Jameel, SI Wastrage PS Muhammad Abbas was constituted.

The team after hectic efforts managed to trace out the criminals who have been arrested.

Wastrage Police after arrest of four alleged criminals namely Waseem Iqbal (ringleader), Nimatullah, Allah Khan and Muzahir Shah of Waseem gang have recovered Mehran car bearing registration no RIZ-306, Mehran car (ABE-315), Corolla car (FDG-7517), Corolla car (GLI-908), another vehicle (IDS-5832), motorcycle (RIG-7451), Mehran car (RLC-1513), Suzuki FX car (VRB-6233) Yellow cap taxi (FDM-9498) and two other motorcycles from the custody of the accused.

Whereas, Rawalpindi police also rounded up alleged car lifters of Hafeez Gang identified as Muhammad Hafeez (ringleader), Waqas Shafiq, Numan Nazeer and Muhammad Qasir and recovered stolen cars from their possession including corolla car, black model 2000 (IDK-196), Khyber car (LOZ-2550), Mehran car (LHY-6650) and Suzuki Alto (LXW-641). The criminals have confessed several cases of car lifting during preliminary interrogation. Separate cases have been registered against the accused while further investigations are underway.

CPO Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokhar lauded the performance of the team members and announced certificates of appreciation for them. (APP)
