KARACHI: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, has directed to prepare a comprehensive crime and criminal database.
A statement here on Thursday said that a two point agenda was discussed at a meeting in detail to bring result oriented reforms in day-to-day policing and strengthening of policing structure in order to remove bottlenecks and to implement police strategy with practical approach not only to control crimes but also to provide security to the citizens.
It said that at the meeting held at CPO, the IGP Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Shah constituted a high powered committee to formulate proposal/recommendations, in this regard.
The committee consists of Additional IGP Karachi, Additional IGP CID, DIG East, West, SSP Central district and SSP of Gulshan and Liaquatabad Police divisions.
The committee has been asked to hold in depth study to have a Crime and Criminals database including finger prints and photographs of arrested criminals/suspects alongwith relevant self details in consultation with the Forensic division Sindh Police, CID and NADRA.
The committee was directed to put up its findings along with comprehensive recommendations within a week time.
It was also agreed that once the data software is prepared/operational NADRA would be requested through Interior Ministry to provide link for achieving desirable results.
`The computerized crime and criminal data software duly linked with NADRA would surely help facilitate arrests of criminals involved in all sort of crimes', the police officers maintained.
Mushtaq Shah also asked the officers to identify bottlenecks confronting or ground policing and directed to submit recommendation to reform policing structure with special reference to area of jurisdictions
The meeting was attended amongst other by the Additional IGP Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani, Additional IGP CID, Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, DIG headquarter, Sardar Abdul Majeed, DIGP of East, West and South Zones, SsP of Districts East, West, Central, Malir, South and all divisional SSPs of Karachi.
