ISLAMABAD: Federal government in its reply to the Supreme Court in the memo case challenged SC that it was not competent to hear the case, Geo News reported on Thursday.
In the response submitted to the SC on Thursday, the federal government stated that the government had rendered many sacrifices for restoration democracy.
The government has authorized Parliamentary Committee on National Security to investigate into the matter. The committee is represented by all the political parties that form the parliament, it added.
The committee has full authority to investigate into the matter.
In the reply, it is further stated that neither the Federation nor the President and Prime Minister has any link to the memo. "We are the guardians of the country's sovereignty," the Federation said.
In its three-page reply which consists of seven points, the Federation used the article published in British paper as a reference which claims that DG ISI Lt. Gen. Ahmed Pasha sought assistance from the Arab countries for a coup.
