Gulbahar flyover by June end: PDA
PESHAWAR: Director General, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), Qazi Laique Ahmad has said that construction work on Gulbahar Flyover is likely to complete by the end of the current financial year while Mufti Mahmood Flyover will be completed before the end of the stipulated period of two years.

Talking to APP here after the concluding ceremony of 15th Annual Inter-House Athletics Sports Meet 2010-11 of Saint Francis High School, Hayatabad, he said that the completion of Gulbahar Flyover will help ensure smooth flow of traffic on G.T Road.

Regarding the work on the Mufti Mahmood Flyover, he said that the specific period of the project is 24 months. However, he said that the contractor has erected the base and the construction work will be completed before the expiry of the stipulated time period. He said that the scheme will help the traffic jam problems at Rehman Baba Square.

To a question regarding the resolution of the traffic problems in other parts of the city, he said that beside the directives of Peshawar High Court (PHC) the provincial government is also keen in the development of provincial metropolis.

He said that a study conducted by the provincial government has identified 11 intersections for construction of under passes. This year, he said the chief minister has allocated sufficient funds for the development of Peshawar. He said that work on two underpasses would begin this year while the remaining will also be constructed soon.

To another question, he said that construction work on the Pajgy-Charsadda Roads section of the Ring Road would be started soon to arrest the high load of traffic on the roads of the city. (APP)
