RAWALPINDI: Under grand anti-encroachment operation of Tehsil Municipal Athority (TMA), 14 trucks loaded with goods were confiscated here during the last six days while as many as 110 shopkeepers were also fined.
Tehsil Municipal Officer said that raids are being conducted in city markets to remove all kinds of encroachments.
He said 14 trucks loaded with goods were confiscated during the last six days and deposited in the TMA store while 110 shopkeepers were imposed fines amounting to Rs 110,000.
He said, the grand clean-up operation against encroachments launched on the special instructions of Administrator Rawal Town/Assistant Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa which is underway in the city.
Now staff concerned has also been directed to expedite the ongoing efforts being made to remove encroachments from city areas. Special teams under the supervision of Town Officer Regulation Toseef Malik and Superintendent Pervez Mughal are regularly conducting raids at Raja Bazaar, Liaquat Road, Benazir Bhutto road, Gunjmandi, Jamia Masjid Road, Commercial Market, Sadiqabad and other areas of the city.
The vendors who were found selling their products while displaying on footpaths and different city roads are imposed fines with warnings.
Meanwhile, Administrator Rawal Town has once again warned the shopkeepers, not to indulge in any encroachment which causes trouble for pedestrians as well as other road users adding, stern action would be taken against the violators.
He directed the officials concerned to take stringent measures to remove encroachments.
An effective strategy to discourage illegal construction should also be devised with strict measures against constructions built without approved building plans, he instructed.
TMO said that the operation against encroachments would continue and no one would be spread. (APP)
