FBI declares nine universities on Axact’s portfolio as ‘fake’
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) received an initial reply by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Sunday regarding the Axact fake degree scandal.

According to sources, the FBI has deemed nine universities on Axact’s portfolio to be ‘fake’.

The FBI has said that the nine universities ‘do not exist,’ sources said.

According to sources, the FBI will also provide important information regarding Axact’s accounts and websites to the FIA within a few days.

On May 27, the FBI had assured Pakistani federal investigators of their complete assistance in the ongoing probe of Axact fake degree scam.

The Axact scandal came to light when the New York Times published an investigative report claiming that the Pakistani IT company had made millions of dollars selling fake degrees online.

Following the NYT story, Pakistan authorities were quick to act as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered the FIA to launch a probe into the fake degree scandal.
