Motorway Police foil robberies bids, arrest one robber
ISLAMABAD: National Highways & Motorway Police Thursday foiled two attempts of robberies on GT Road in the area of Taxila and Rahim Yar Khan by prompt action and arrested two robbers and recovered illegal arms and ammunition.

NH&MP officers SPO Naeem Afzal and PO Ghazanfar during their routine duty in the area of Taxila saw two trucks parked at hard shoulder near Hino workshop on GT Road, and two robbers looting the trucks on gun point.

When the robbers saw the NH&MP officers, they started firing which was responded by the police officers. In the meantime, Commando Unit of NH&MP officers SPO Kanwar Aziz and PO Muhammad Hussain also reached there and with commando action NH&MP officers succeeded to arrest one robber Muhammad Ayub s/o Qadir Bux r/o Islamabad with a repeater and cartridges.

Whereas, the other succeeded to escape from there due to darkness and firing. During initial interrogations, he confessed to have committed many robberies.

In the second incident, NH&MP officers SPO Muhammad Ashraf and PO Muhammad Akram during their routine duty in the area of Rahim Yar Khan on GT Road observed that about a dozen persons trying to stop the vehicles on gun point near Taranda Muhammad Panh on G.T road.

When the robbers saw the NH&MP officers they started firing which was responded by the NH&MP officers.

In the meantime, Commando Unit of NH&MP officers also reached there. After exchange of fire, the dacoits succeeded to run away by taking the advantage of darkness of night and firing.

Later the arrested robber and recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the concerned local police for further investigation.
